Blooming Negrow

A Ceramic Inquiry into Identity Politics through Floral Design and Green spaces

By investigating and organizing a network of Black floral designers and farmers, I am complicating the preconceptions of who belongs in green spaces.

The insistence of centering my ceramic work is to instill my curatorial eye of creating vessels for particular occasions and bouquet’s.

  • I am studying the floral compositions

  • Researching artists and experts

  • Introducing botanical knowledge into a space of high society through the gaze of the Black community and indigenous knoweledge systems

In turn I am suggesting the given relationship of Black and Indigenous people to green spaces as being intuitive, creative, and expressive of the dynamism afforded in composing visually stimulating work befitting to high society. Investigating the obsticals and categorizing that prevents this relationship being widely practiced is where the identity politics get complicated and we can name the artists centering

Support the work ahead

Hi,

I am the creator of Blooming Negrow and am developing the branding and identity, which will then be registered as a trademark and copyright.

At this stage, I am looking for sources of funding and contracts to sustain the business ventures and creative products that I develop into a lifestyle and image of reclamation, beauty, refinement, and access.

The exclusivity is in perfecting your craft, but the community is about sharing knowledge and building connection systems through engagement on this platform.

Your donation today generously supports rolling costs, equipment purchases, and investment in the studio spaces I am inhabiting throughout this project.

At a later date, there will be an announcement and follow-up about my thanks to you and how you will be credited as a founding art heaux. There will also be an inaugural negrow commemorating an exhibition opening and pop-up and related design elements shaping the thematic concept of Black bodies in Green spaces: pushing back on identity politics with beauty, simplifying our connections to nature, and centering healing. This is a ceramic inquiry into floral design and the history of African descendant traditions.
